#BiVisibilityDay

Hello peeps, I hope y’all are okay. Today is Bi Visibility Day !

Drapeau créé par Michael Page en 1998

Since 1999, this day raises bi awareness and challenges biphobia and bi-erasure. It was created by three American bisexual activists.

Since this day is about visibility, let me present you my 5 favorite bisexual icons, whether they are real people or characters.

Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean is an American singer, rapper and visual artist. His debut album Channel Orange was nominated for Album of the Year and was the Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards. He came out since 2012 on a blog.

Virginia Woolf

Adeline Virginia Woolf is one the most important authors of the 20th century. The English writer was in love with her husband when she met Vita Sackville-West in 1922 who will be her lover.

Whitney Houston

Do I really have to present this icon ? Anyway, the most awarded female artist of all time was married to Bobby Brown, but he was aware that she was also in a relationship with her « best friend » Robyn Crawford. Relationship that was confirmed by her in 2019 after years of silence in the memoir A Song for you: My life with Whitney Houston.

Annalise Keating

« Who I am is a 53-year-old woman from Memphis, Tennessee named Anna Mae Harkness. I’m ambitious, black, bisexual, angry, sad, strong, sensitive, scared, fierce, talented, exhausted ». Annalise, played by the fantastic Viola Davis, is a lawyer and one of the main characters of How to get away with murder. All I have to say is: go watch it.

Hafsa Qureshi

I couldn’t talk about bi visibility without mentioning Hafsa Qureshi, Stonewall’s 2019 Bi Role Model of the Year. She is active in the British Lgbtq community, and don’t hesitate to share the stage with leaders to talk about diversity, inclusion, and her experience as a Queer, muslim, and disabled woman.

Bonus: Luz Noceda

And a little bonus, just to add an animated character in there: Luz Noceda from The Owl House. She is one of the, if not the first, bisexual lead character on a Disney Channel show. She’s been confirmed to be bisexual by show creator Dana Terrace, and has a girlfriend.
